As the Seasons Change: What’s Your Favorite?

The temps have cooled here in Minnesota this past week, and it suddenly feels more like fall. There’s a crisp breeze in the air, the humidity has lifted, and the mornings carry that unmistakable freshness that hints at change. I love this time of year, when you can feel the shift not only in the air but also in yourself. A little more grounded, a little more reflective, a little more ready to settle into new rhythms.
And speaking of seasons shifting… I have a confession to make: my favorite season is actually winter. (Please don’t kill the messenger 😉). I know, I know…most people around here are counting down the days until summer, but me? I LOVE snow. I love the hush it brings to the world, the way it sparkles under sunlight or moonlight, and the excuse it gives me to curl up by the fireplace with a blanket, a good book, and my loves. Winter feels like a deep breath, a time of stillness, reflection, and restoration.
The Symbolism of White
White has long been seen as the color of purity, clarity, and new beginnings. When the ground is covered in snow, it’s as though nature presses “reset.” The noise of color softens into quiet, and suddenly we’re given a clean slate. For me, that symbolism is powerful, it reminds me that even in seasons that feel barren or cold. There is beauty, renewal, and hidden life waiting beneath the surface.
The Rhythm of Seasons and Our Inner World
As the seasons change, so do we. Just like nature cycles from growth to harvest to rest, our bodies and spirits crave that same ebb and flow. Seasonal transitions are invitations to pause and recalibrate. Sometimes they nudge us toward grounding (like eating heartier foods in autumn), other times toward expression and renewal (like spring’s burst of color).
I often think of it in terms of the systems of health (what some call chakras) the root reminding us to ground, the flow urging us to stay flexible, the heart reminding us to balance rest and connection, the spirit encouraging us to attune to something greater. These shifts aren’t just outside of us, they happen inside, too.
Your Turn
So, I’ve confessed my love for winter and snow (and yes, I know many of you are shaking your heads!). Now I’d love to hear from you:
- What’s your favorite season?
- What do you love about it?
- How does it reflect what’s happening in your own inner world?
Because when we lean into the season that speaks most to us, we often discover more about ourselves. What we need, what we cherish, and how we align with the rhythms of life.
To the beauty of snow (and sunshine, and falling leaves, and blossoms)… may we all find ourselves in the seasons.
